Reunion Ladies Activities is derived of volunteer
women interested in preserving our homemaking heritage. This group is associated
with the Manitoba Threshermen's Reunion, and functions only during the four
day festival.
The display includes a bake area where the aroma of freshly
baked cinnamon rolls and biscuits pleases all. Some of the baking is done
in woodstoves bringing memories to many. Baking is sold on site; through
the festival only. In our kitchen one can view the skill of churning or "making
cream into butter". The art of making laundry soap also takes place in our
kitchen twice a day.
The craft display contains live demonstrations of carding
and spinning, loom weaving, rug braiding and cloth, sewing on a treadle machine
and handmade lace making. A "quilting bee" is ongoing with the finished quilt
usually being raffled.
A daily vintage fashion show has proven to be extremely popular.
The late afternoon presentation includes men's, women's and children's clothing
from era 1800 to 1950.
One can cool off with delicious ice cream cones or browse
through our souvenirs. On sale is homemade soap, craft and quilt directions,
cookbooks, pens, mugs, etc.
Everyone is welcome to visit our display and in doing so will
soon bring to mind the homemakers of yesteryear.
